When you transfer a job card to your job search board and try to move the job card from the 'opportunity' column to 'applied', the system will prompt you to indicate whether the opportunity is a Job A or Job B. If it is a job B a list of skills will come up that will remind you to think about the job and whether it can help you build on those skills. So if Job A is a math teacher and a job b is a youth counselor, it would be strategic to take it if developing curriculum is required. Basically, it helps to remind you to be strategic in the jobs you take so that you become more competitive for your ideal job.

JSB General FAQ
The MyJobCards Facebook app is a peer to peer job lead and referral application that allows you to easily access the hidden job market.
The JobSearchBoard is a job search management tool that manages your job cards.
Together, these two components help you to strategically manage your job search.
Job Search Clarity refers to the job seekers ability to identify the type of job they want and are willing to do. This is typically based on their desires, skills and experiences.
Job Search Intensity refers to the level of activity an individual puts into their job search. This can be anything from identifying job leads, applying for jobs to conducting informational interviews.
As long as the job seeker is clear about what they want to do and are willing to accept employment not only in their targeted occupation, but also jobs that are directly/indirectly related, the more likely they are to be committed to the process.
Additionally, if the job seeker's intensity or level of activity is high, the likelihood of finding employment dramatically increases.
Parallel Job Search
Research also shows that when an individual makes an occupational choice for their job search, the likelihood of changing direction is likely to occur over time. For example, if an individual is looking for an engineer's position and is not successful early on, they will inevitably change the type of job they would be willing to take.
This is especially true in difficult economic times. So the answer to the inevitable occurrence is to conduct a parallel job search. That is, continue to look for your ideal job (Job A) but also look for jobs (Job B) that can help you to become more competitive for Job A. By doing this, you're wasting less time and avoiding the inevitable reality of changing the type of job you would be willing to accept.
The job search board system reminds you of your Job A and forces you to set up criteria for why you would take a Job B. By doing this, the system encourages you to think strategically about your job search.
Job Search Numbers
In order to maintain a level of job search intensity that is in keeping with a successful job search, the need to keep statistics which provide insight into your progress is paramount. The job search board system collects statistics for you to ensure that you're aware of how you're doing each step of the way. All you have to do is analyze three numbers, it couldn't be more simple.
Job Search Process
It's not only important to know what you're doing throughout your job search but also to know where you are at any given time. The job search board system follows a staged process that provides you with a visual representation of where you're at in the job search. By breaking it down into stages, you can easily determine what's working and what's not so that you can maintain a level of job search clarity and intensity that is in keeping with success.
Linked to a Job Search Coach
In some cases you may be working with a coach in the job search board system. These extra set of eyes can help you identify areas of strength and weakness. The assistance of a coach will ensure that you're heading down the right path.
If you would liked to be referred to a job coach, please contact us and we will provide you with information on how to obtain one to help you in your job search.
As we will try to duplicate the error you encountered, please be explicit in providing information around the error or bug.
